Helou, is it necessary to connect diodes in button shift registers as when connecting directly to the controller and how many 74HC165 can be connected in series on one board? Thanks

Hi, diodes only needed to prevent ghost presses in matrix connection when several buttons pressed at the same time

Theoretically 16 chained registers may be connected to achieve 128 inputs. But I've never tried this
