Concerns about Telegram
Telegram
- Doesn't use end-to-end encryption on direct chats by default
- Doesn't support end-to-end encryption for group chats at all
- Doesn't support end-to-end encryption at all on Telegram web
- Their encryption scheme is okay, bu not great
You have a fork of the tldr-digital-security repo on your account. That one clearly recommends using Signal, why did you go against that? From what I've seen on the internet, it's not blocked in China.
Looks like Signal is in fact blocked and the articles I looked into are outdated...

Thanks for your reminding. We acknowledge the possible security problems of Telegram. But we still choose it because 1) the primary security threat is Chinese gov. We are approximately fine once avoiding it 2) Telegram has channel and robot which are more suitable for social networking besides safe communication.
I suggest using Wire(software). @tonyqus
@hojarasca2 why do you at me? I'm a bit confused.
@hojarasca2 Thank you for your tips. I've deleted the forked repo.
I somewhat agree the comments of this repo although it's not popular. WeChat is fully monitored by Chinese government. And Tencent is a evil company I have to say. It sells chat data to 3rd party without explicitly notifying users. This fact is not from online rumer. I used to watch the demo of this system while my company was a tencent partner. Frankly speaking, when I see this demo, I'm somewhat shocked.
From the government's perspective, yes, it's a good company. It provides an effective tool to monitor/control what people are saying everything. However, as a Chinese, I totally lose privacy while using WeChat. It's not about if the communication is encrypted or not. This company directly sells data to the government as a solution. But the question is if there are other clients besides the government.
