open tv depricated library issue
Image sorry but i had to make a new issue, as it says i don`t have the permission to reopen an existing issue.
Hi again, this is all I see when I run the programme. no idea why. the program works, but does not display any channels anymore. sorry to persist, but Id really like this to work again. Ive installed both the flathub and .deb versions, same result. Ill keep trying on other machines. FYI when I say fully up to date Zorin 17.3 I mean that I have run the software updater till thee are no more updates, and not just an inital install of 17.3. I dont know if that would make a diference. cheers again. I dont mean to be a pain ;-p
I was just fiddeling about, and used the terminal to run opentv. got the following error message: (open_tv:2): libayatana-appindicator-WARNING **: 01:55:57.370: libayatana-appindicator is deprecated. Please use libayatana-appindicator-glib in newly written code.
(open_tv:2): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 01:55:57.644: gtk_widget_get_scale_factor: assertion 'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

I can replicate this on 3 machines so far. the libayatana-appindicator version was updated on all these machines to version 3.1. this is when opentv broke. i dont know how to go back to an earlier version, and make it permanent
Thank you for making a issue. Have you tried nuking your database (in settings)? The libayatana-appindicator might be gibberish.

this is a thing, it exists. are you saying its a datatbase error?. would fixing it fix my problem?. would nuking the database break anything else?, like the whole install of zorin?. Libayatana-appindicator is a shared library used for creating application indicators in desktop environments that support GTK. It allows applications to display status information and provide quick access to features through system tray icons.. sounds like you want me to break a part of the system?. I dont know enough yet about linux to judge. I fixed machines for nearly 40 years, but nearly all were windows, dos, and the odd mac. this is no mans land still for me ;-p
ive been thinking about this, gtk creatyes and or controls widgets, the channel buttons are widgets?????. misassigned gtk = no widgets??????. the programe otherwise seems to still do what it should, its just a widget display issue?????

sorry , did you mean the database in open tv?, did that many times, and any number of installs of both the flathub and .deb versions on 3 machines. still no joy. Im setting up a non updated 17.3 machine to test with, and will also setup a 18.0 machine to test there as well. still think its a widget display problem. ;-p
