Sorry if this is not the right place to ask, but is there another channel_alias we can use to install packages from? I noticed that pulling from conda-forge via the default https://conda.anaconda.org/ no longer works on the Fred Hutch network.
$ conda create -n tmp -c conda-forge python
…
CondaHTTPError: HTTP 000 CONNECTION FAILED for url <https://conda.anaconda.org/conda-forge/linux-64/repodata.json>

This is a bit of a new issue being worked on. SciComp has some docs here: https://conda-forge.fredhutch.org. You can also email scicomp@ for other questions.
Remove Anaconda content Maybe add mamba/mini-conda content/link Also explain all the parts and how to be successful
This also references old conda information
Hey @atombaby, I just read through _datademos/computational_rank.md and the information there seems current, do you remember what about that content in there you thought was old? It links to an Anaconda page for managing virtual environments, but I believe that documentation is still relevant and the best source of that information, even for Miniforge conda.
I think I fixed that page. I don't think there's much more to do to resolve this issue, but I'll have another look.
I agree after looking into both
- https://sciwiki.fredhutch.org/compdemos/python_virtual_environments/
and
- https://sciwiki.fredhutch.org/datademos/computational_rank/
they both look up-to-date to me.
@sitapriyamoorthi do you mind if we close this?
If you both think its good to go please go ahead and close
fyi @atombaby I am closing this
