Make log engine configurable

What would you like to be added/changed?

Currently, there is a storage_engine option to set the storage engine, but no option to alter the log engine. This seems like an oversight.

Hello 👋 We currently have no plans to work on this feature in the near future, if that's something you need, feel free to make the code changes and open a PR.
