Feature description

An option to do a "web search" on a number in the call history, it could be in the 3 dot menu

ignoreImageMinify

Eg launch https://duckduckgo.com/?q= with the $number on the end, which will fire up the default browser and search results for those digits

Why do you want this feature?

Save a few taps/swipes

Additional information

Cheers

  • How often do you search for someone's number?
  • Do you want this option for contacts too?

I only want it for numbers that I don't have saved - to see if they're spam

I too frequently search numbers but I rather use my country database provider as any generic search engine does not cut it. If this would ever be implementet I would only pivot towards inputing a custom search string.

It should be a simple "Search web" option similar to Google Phone's "Lookup" option. It launches the default search app.

@naveensingh Why ask about the search option from within the Contacts app? Did you have a specific use case in mind?

I can definitely confirm the “spam calls” use case in relation to call history.

I personally also save blocked numbers in a separate phone book so that I can synchronize these numbers beyond the limits of Android via CardDAV. Routers such as the FRITZ!Box can block unwanted numbers via integrated address books. A search option in the Contacts app could also be useful here. However, I consider this to be of secondary importance.

No specific use case. I just wanted to confirm whether the FR also includes recent calls from contacts.
