Steps to reproduce the bug

Send a message, close the thread, and return later.

Expected behavior

Things should be static until something new is sent or received.

Actual behavior

Often when returning to a thread, a previously sent message will again show that it is sending, then get check for sent, then check for received. It is usually the most recent one, but not always. I confirmed with a friend that the messages aren't actually getting sent multiple times, or at least, she didn't receive them multiple times, so it appears to be only an error in display behavior, not sending behavior.
