Group messages error

Describe the bug Trying to create a Group Massage ends up with an "An unknown error occurred"

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. open the app
  2. Click on Plus/+ to create a new message
  3. select a contact
  4. click on the button to add more contacts
  5. type the phone number or the name of the contact and select the contact
  6. press the accept/check button

Expected behavior It should create a new group message with the selected contacts, but instead a popup with the message "An unknown error occurred" is shown and the app gets back to the contacts selection list (point 3).

Device info (please complete the following information):

  • Model: Xiaomi Redmi 5
  • OS: Android 8.1
  • App version: 1.0.0

I couldn't reproduce it on my OnePlus and on an emulator, but I could reproduce it on another Xiaomi device (Android 10), so it looks like some problem with Xiaomi devices.

Do you have stock Android from Xiaomi?

I was able to reproduce this on a Xiaomi device with stock Android 11 but I didn't see the "Unknown error occurred" toast.

I could also reproduce in Xiaomi Redmi 12C (Android 13)

with no error shown, however!
