Affected app version

1.0.1

Affected Android/Custom ROM version

14

Affected device model

moto 73g

How did you install the app?

F-Droid / IzzyOnDroid

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. Long press a chat contact from the main screen to select it
  2. Tap Delete from the bar

Expected behavior

The contact/chat should be deleted and stay deleted.

Actual behavior

It is deleted but it is immediately restored on the list. This happens with the Recycle bin feature switched on or off. It even happens when there are no messages left under that contact.

Oddly, even without any messages left, the contact name on the main screen is displayed with a preview of the most recent message since before I deleted them, as if the messages still existed. There is no way to delete that preview or the contact from the main screen.

I'm seeing this same bug. At first, I thought it happened with short, automatic messages but no, it happens with normal messages, too. Android 14, Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. Messages installed from Play Store.

Hi. Exact same issue here. This is annoying because it makes it a pain to navigate through my messages and id love not to have to remember I had a stalker three years ago everytime I open the app. My only altrenative to this sms app are apps full of ads or that will mine my data constantly in the background..

Same issue on a dual sim Zenfone 10, Android 14, App version 1.0.1. Tried to import backup but after realizing it wasn't imported by date I tried to delete them. Most of them were, but some just reappear.

Edit: Even after clearing local data / reinstalling, the chats are still there and the issue persists.

I'm still experiencing this issue. Has there been any update or fix?

Same. Specs as before (see above) only now I'm using Android 15. Definitely not device and version specific. EDIT: Some more description: The first sentence of the message is visible when viewed in "overview" mode. However, when the message is opened, it contains no text. When the message is deleted, it is comes back.

@miru299 @MinuteNewt

  • How many conversations do you have?
  • How many messages were in the conversation that was undeleted?

@miru299 @MinuteNewt

* How many conversations do you have?
  In the range of 100
* How many messages were in the conversation that was **un**deleted?
  Tested few of the items, it's really sporadic, some works as expected other don't at all

I have 44 messages. Some are automatic messages from various institutions and companies, which can't be responded to. Some can't be deleted, others can. I just deleted one automatic message (and it worked) but I didn't pay any attention to the number format (short or normal-length number). Some messages that can't be deleted are from from normal numbers (from real people).

Please note: the messages that can't be deleted are empty. In the overview mode, I can see a preview of the message (first line of the message), but the thread itself is empty.

I thought about recording a video, but I can't figure out how to blur the messages I don't want to show. So that's the best I can do for now.
