Affected app version

1.1.0

Affected Android/Custom ROM version

Android 15 (BP1A.250505.005)

Affected device model

Pixel 6a

How did you install the app?

F-Droid / IzzyOnDroid

Steps to reproduce the bug

I first noticed it when I pressed the centre home button. I was switching to one of the apps in the drawer, so it didn't really register for me at the time ._.

Expected behavior

The widgets should be visible.

Actual behavior

The widgets are not visible. They're definitely there though.

Screenshots/Screen recordings

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/012ca3e9-42a3-4e84-8d37-5fb9eb05c0ed

I've got two widgets, each taking half the screen. At the bottom is Easy Notes, and at the top is Todo Agenda, both from F-Droid.

I seem to be able to do all the normal widgetty things, as the video shows.

(Note: I doubled the video speed and compressed it - original video was 57 meg)

Additional information

Restarting the phone fixes the issue. I'll update if I figure out how to reproduce it.

Same problem with Android 14 (graphene OS) and the widget of F-Droid app "Task". It either disappears, I cannot change the size of the widget or only in a rather random way...

Fossify Launcher 1.1.1 from F-Droid Android 12 Widget: TimeTune from Playstore

Same thing just happened to me. I was messing with the launcher settings and then my only widget () was invisible. I deleted it and added it again. It worked.

Did you also resize the widget before it happened?

No, I'm sure of that. I can't tell which specific setting change triggered this, I was testing everything, but the widget was visible before I opened the launcher settings and it was invisible just after I closed them.

The widgets disappearing after each restart of the OS. Workaround: restart the launcher manually, then the widgets correct displayed.

I have also experienced this issue, except for me it was after a reboot of the phone. As a new user I have only used the latest version of the app for about a week.

Widgets in use:

  • VLC audio player widget
  • Calendar event list widget
  • wewow weather widget

All widgets indicated they were 4x4 or 4x2, so I did resize the widgets by expanding their width as they only filled 4/5 of the horizontal space (since column count is set to 5). Actually I recall the wewow widget disappearing the 1st time I added and resized it, whereas the other widgets did not. But after a phone reboot, all widgets were "invisible", but pressing and holding the screen in their respective spaces would bring up their context menu of choices.

As a troubleshooting step I removed/re-added the widgets without resizing them... rebooted the phone... and all widgets were visible and in place.

I resized only one of the widgets (increased width and decreased height) to see if it's only non-resized widgets that remain happy/visible post reboot... and they all reloaded fine? This was unexpected as I was hoping the issue was related to resizing.

I hope the issue isn't random in nature, as that'll make it hard to nail down, but it doesn't appear like I've been able to help identify a pattern thus far.

Edit: After re-reading one of the other posts (re: post launcher settings), I decided to adjust my row (6=>7) and column (5=>4) count settings in an attempt to "full width" my widgets without resizing them... initially all widgets were gone (pressing in their space did not bring up their context menu) or off screen (I don't think increasing the row count worked)... reverting the column/row counts brought the widgets back but they were not initialized/displaying anything inside... even after a reboot... removed/re-added the widgets once again and they are now displaying their content as expected.

The issue happens with me on some apps and some don't

I'm running Android 14. Oneplus launcher doesn't have this issue. The App impacted is "Weather" from F-droid. The left GIF is the working Oneplus Launcher and right one is the Fossify Launcher.

Not quite the same problem. I can add a clock widget without any problem, but I cannot add any of the Breezy Weather widgets. They appear to drag into position, but then they disappear.

Thank you for your work on this launcher. I have tried a number and none of them did what I was looking for, except yours.

Edit: just watched @h-n-a 's second video. My problem is exactly the same.

Until now, restarting my phone fixed the issue, but not anymore.
