Feature description

I'm in the process of setting up a new Pixel 8 phone and am running a number of Fossify Apps in parallel to the Google Apps to check functionality and aesthetics and compare the performance of the apps

The Fossify File Manager appears to have one important feature missing

Any files I've deleted in the Google "Files" app move to the Recycle Bin and begin a 30 day countdown prior to permanent deletion. In the interim period the files can still be seen in their original folder with the prefix ".trashed" to designate that they are sitting in the recycle bin.

Fossify File Manager can display all ".trashed" files in their original folders (the same functionality as Google Files) but if you initiate the deletion of a file from within Fossify File Manager it appears to permanently delete the file with immediate effect.

Assuming I'm not doing anything wrong that suggests that there is no "Recycle Bin" feature in Fossify.

Can consideration be given to adding a Recycle Bin with 30 day (or user set countdown) please

Why do you want this feature?

Automatic permanent deletion is problematic if you accidentally select the wrong file. Important files could be deleted by mistake

A recycle bin is useful in case you deleted some file by accident. This would be a great feature to add.

Is any DEV able to comment on this please?

It'll be implemented but can't provide any ETAs.

Thanks for your quick response. I really like the Fossify suite of apps but will have to revert to Google Files on my Pixel until this is implemented as the Recycle Bin is pretty important to me

Is there a roadmap published anywhere here that shows current stuff under development so that when this feature is implemented I'll be able to find out about it quickly and fire up the App again for use?

I'm not a Fossify dev, but I believe GitHub issues are such a roadmap ;-) So just follow this issue.

How is this not already implemented in the app. Recycle bin is like a fundamental feature.

Apparently no one was willing to offer his/her free time to implement this feature. But hey, there's a good news: it can be you! 😉
