Affected app version

1.0.1

Affected Android/Custom ROM version

Android 15, stock

Affected device model

Google Pixel 7

How did you install the app?

F-Droid / IzzyOnDroid

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. (Grant root access)
  2. Open root folder
  3. Open any folder containing many files.
  4. Wait forever (while recognising the loading bar)

Expected behavior

It should instantly open the selected folder and show every file inside.

Actual behavior

See issue reproduction.

Screenshots/Screen recordings

No response

Additional information

This does only happen while browsing the root folder(s). Performance on internal storage is fine. Opening a folder with 400 files on the storage didn't trigger anything, while trying same with ~ 100 files inside some root folder will always hang/loop the app.

How are you opening the root folder in File Manager? It only shows internal and external storages.

You will need to grant the app root privileges, as I already mentioned.

Then you can choose: Screenshot_20250503-184623.png

"Hauptverzeichnis" = root folder

Then, you will be able to enter it:

If you have a stock Android, then it is a bug that you even see this option. This option is available only for rooted devices, and it's expected to work properly only on them.

I must correct myself. I did root my device and just wanted to make it clear that I do not use any custom ROM.

My only rooted device recently took a nap and now won't wake up. I will check this soon on another device.

In my case, only some folders are affected.

This is not a performance issue, but a stuck file loader or permission issue. I can reproduce this with a folder containing just two items.

Any updates on this?

No updates yet. You'll be notified when this is fixed.

Still nothing. Since I frequently browse through these root folders and you guys don't seem to have any will to patch your app, I'm gonna switch to another file manager. Thanks for nothing

It'll be fixed when time permits. There are more than a thousand issues in this project, and they all can't be handled at once.

Root browsing never worked for me in any version. I can list all folders and files, but the size is always 0. If I try to browse a few paths deep, the app stops working.

For that reason I just use this app a basic stock file manager (without the root option enabled) to replace the stock Android one. Then I install Mixplorer (free) for anything else.

I use Magisk root and Android 14.
