Feature description

Services like Google Contact's allow for assigning a label to the website field in contact entries. This should be added.

Why do you want this feature?

Assign labels to websites

This was suggested within the broader #187 issue

I assume you are talking about the website? I couldn't do it on the app.

That's the code of the vCard (VCF) file if I export a sample contact from Google Contacts:

BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:3.0
NICKNAME:Cybercrime Reporting
item1.EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET:[email protected]
item1.X-ABLabel:Anti-Fraud Centre
item2.TEL:7726
item2.X-ABLabel:Spam | Mobile provider
item3.TEL:+1 888-495-8501
item3.X-ABLabel:Anti-Fraud Centre
item4.URL:https\://fightspam.gc.ca/src
item4.X-ABLabel:Spam Reporting Centre
item5.URL:https\://antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/report-signalez-eng.
 htm
item5.X-ABLabel:Anti-Fraud Centre
CATEGORIES:myContacts
END:VCARD

You can see that it contains the labels for the websites, so it seems standard.

item4.X-ABLabel:Spam Reporting Centre
item5.X-ABLabel:Anti-Fraud Centre

With that in mind, shouldn't it be possible to implement?

Yes, it can be implemented (I was just asking if you were able to do it on the Google Contacts app).

Oh, apologies. I had the Google Contacts app disabled so as to only use Fossify.

I just tested now and you're right, it's not possible. Another example is the "IM" field which I really like, and which was removed as an editable field from Google Contacts (all platforms), but remains readable for the time being.

No need for apologies, text messages are inherently open to interpretation :)

Actually, it turns out that Fossify Contacts currently resets the label for websites after making an edit.

I had this contact entry with a few websites with custom labels, and after making a change to it with Fossify Contacts, it reset them to default. In other words, this results in data loss.

Fossify Contacts currently resets the label for websites after making an edit.

I can reproduce this with the Google Contacts app too, website label is reset to "Home page" after an edit/save.

I should have tested that... Thanks for checking out. Google can't even stay consistent with their own software.
