Feature description

As suggested here, I'd like to propose an option/way to make deleting of past events more straightforward. That's currently possible already of course but is a rather manual process (check which events/tasks are past/done), select them, delete.

I think it would be nice either having an option/action 'delete all past events and completed tasks' the user can run from time to time or an auto-delete mechanism, though in this case concerns like mentioned from@Aokromes below should be taken into account.

Why do you want this feature?

When events are past/tasks are completed, personally I have no need to store/see them anymore, so (semi-)auto-deleting in this case would be convenient. In fact I assumed this would be the case by default and was surprised when I recently by chance saw the long list of past events in the 'Simple event list' view. Not a big thing, but they accumulate over time when not deleting manually occassionaly.

imho such thing must wait few hours? day? before delete in case you forget it and you may reach event / taks even if late.

Yes, meanwhile I think delete on demand (an option/action which one can run from time to time) may be better than auto-delete. With auto-delete it can easily be forgotten that it's enabled and then when wanting to keep a past event for whatever reason and it's gone that's no good.

@nofishonfriday Please adjust your original request to what exactly you'd like to have.

@Aga-C Thanks for the heads up, request updated.

(open to discuss implementation details with whomever wants to work on this of course. :))

maybe this can be a setting, from idk, 1h, 3h, 6h, 12h, 1d, 2d expired tasks?

I would like this function too. BB calendar had this option for deleting calendar events older than 30 days.

Here it could be adjustable for whatever period from 1 day to 1 year (?).
