Feature description

Some calendar events don't require immediate and urgent attention. The regular notification is enough, and you might not want to get disturbed when DND is active.

Other times however the event/task is urgent and can't be missed, even if you're away from the device or sleeping and even when DND is active, and making it sound like an alarm clock would be ideal.

So far I only know one app with this feature (HabitNow) and there are some old hacky ways with third party apps to do the same with Google Calendar, which might not work anymore.

Why do you want this feature?

Being able to optionally set a reminder to ring like an alarm clock would be great for the same reason one would use an alarm clock: to make sure it's not missed. But an alarm clock can't use a specific date, you have to rely on days of the week. One workaround is to set yourself a reminder to create an alarm on your clock app, which isn't a good experience.

Additional information

I am not referring to the audio channel or the loop of the reminder, both settings in the app; but the behavior the app would notify/ring, per individual reminder.

There's already customizing notifications for each event type* (Settings → Customize notifications), and is handled by the system. Depending on Android, it should even have the option to override DND. Does it cover your case?

* A notification has to fire at least once in a given event type for the channel to be visible there.

Not really, I even specified I know of that 😅 The TL;DR is: option to select between notification and alarm like an alarm clock/ringtone when creating a reminder.

I second this. The big problem is that remainders have very short sounds (I use LineageOS 20). When being outside among other sounds for example in the street it is easy to miss notification.

I propose to be able to add option to choose custom sound file or set alarm. I am not aware of technical limitations but the issue is important in terms of effectively using reminders.

If a user misses a reminder it defeats the purpose of the reminder. Looping the reminder is different because you may want to do something at exact time not 10 minutes later. Sometimes it is not very important but sometimes is.

Now I need to set reminder right after wake up at specific date to remember to set alarm (which uses longer sounds).

Ther is a setting wher you could setup a notification or Mail. Could you please add ther an Alarmclock setting?

As far this is a setting that could be changed on all CalDAV application but everywhere ther is only notification or mail. If you could add Alarmclock there it would be great and maybe it could be shared with other devices.

Currently, I use for important notification a manual set Alarm (on vibration mpde). But in the App you could only setup alarms for the next 24h or you have to setup a repeating event für the next 7 days.
