I'm curious - is this about dairy cow health metrics?
We focus on microbes transfers from the farm environment to the cheese and the impact on the gut microbiote. But yes it could be seen this way if you talk about pathogens.

FoodOn can certainly take this in, but it seems like we may need a new UBERON term for "teat skin" or "nipple skin". I'm looking at UBERON's "nipple sheath" but is that actually teat skin? https://www.ebi.ac.uk/ols/ontologies/uberon/terms?iri=http%3A%2F%2Fpurl.obolibrary.org%2Fobo%2FUBERON_0005083&viewMode=PreferredRoots&siblings=false
The diagram in https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/The-bovine-teat-canal%3A-Its-role-in-pathogen-and-of-Smolenski/c85c749158d33d751e115cf920f6e56e635212be points to "teat skin" could be used as a reference for the new term.
The reference seems very good to me. Thanks to you for finding this one !
But I do not really understand the underlaying of an UBERON term. Does the new term 'teat skin' will be linked to this UBERON term ? "nipple sheath" seems to be linked to morphogenesis, i'm not sure that is what we are talking about.
UBERON handles all animal anatomy terms. FoodOn is more recently adding precomposed terms with axiom "animal anatomy and 'derives from' some organism". So we can add your "cow teat skin" term no problem, but we'll want to be able to add the precomposed axiom at some point [teat skin and derives from some cow] and that would require submitting the teat skin entity to UBERON if it doesn't have one. But we can consider that a separate matter. I can ask over on UBERON Issues about adding 'teat skin'.
Sorry for the delay. Thank you for the details. I now understand more clearly the process. What are the next steps ? Do I have to submit the 'teat skin' term to UBERON ?
Yes, if you could do the Uberon request that would be appreciated. In FoodOn we'll add your term directly, its just the one axiom related to anatomy that would have to be added later. I'll get Anoosha to get a new id for your term shortly.
UBERON term request https://github.com/obophenotype/uberon/issues/2353
Sure, I will add the new term. But how about 'nonmeat part of animal' (FOODON:03420122) as a parent term? It's underneath the suggested parent 'animal body or body part' and includes the skin.
Sounds good!
