App wasn't able to login to owncloud server: Invalid username/password or could not connect
I am certain I entered the correct credentials, my server is reachable and the certificate is included in Android. I tried it with owncloud server v8.0.2 first, then upgraded to 8.0.4, no change.
What exactly is reported as the error, and what version of ownNote are you running on the server and in Android? Also, is anything appearing in the owncloud.log when you try to connect? Lastly, are you familiar with pulling a logcat? If so, I can walk you through a debug procedure to get more info.
I run ownnote 1.0 on android 2.3.7. I can connect to my owncloud server (8.1) from the web browser even on my mobile phone (I also use owncloud sync client which is working very well).
BUT I can' t connect from ownnote. The issue seems to be that I can't enter my entire password. password field seems limited to 10 characters as I can see. So I tried changing my password from my browser. Works fine from my browser, but still can"t connect from ownnote app on my android mobile phone.
I also have to mention ownnote app on server works great once I disable the 'asset-pipeline.enabled' => true,' option as refered here : https://github.com/Fmstrat/ownnote/issues/70 and as mentionned in the documentation here : https://doc.owncloud.org/server/8.0/admin_manual/configuration_server/js_css_asset_management_configuration.html :)
Please ask me if you want me to do further tests !
Login-Configuration which works on my Androids:
Server: domain.blabla.com/owncloud (take care of lower cases!) Allow all SSL-Certificates: YES Username and password
Thats it! First I made the mistake to write the "d" of "domain" in upper cases "D" which did not work.
I am experiencing the same or similar problem. Installed app on server ownCloud 8.1.1 (stable) and app on Android from F-Droid (MyOwnNotes 1.6 is reported in the about-dialogue). Error given is "Kein gültiges JSON Format vom Server bekommen. Server OK?" in English that would be something like "no valid JSON received, is the server OK?". Logs of owncloud (in the GUI) on server shows no entries about the connection attempts at all.
I (we in general in these cases?) need to find out more specifically what's going wrong. Can anyone provide help on how to achieve that? I'd be willing to make a section for the Wiki/FAQ out of it in return :)
Same here, oc 8.1.1, ownnote 1.05, android ownnote 1.0. from Play Store. Error message was "Wrong username or password or no connection to server" I got around this issue by logging in as a different user (successfully) and then reverting the settings to my original user name. Stranger than fiction :)
What was the difference between the former not working and the working account later? I thought it might be special characters in passwords or something, but only tried changing the password, not the username. And besides, we still need to find out what's the problem so we can fix it ...
No notable difference in usernames or passwords apart from a "." in the not working account.
Later on I noticed that I had to use a capital letter for the first letter of the username whereas I normally log in with a "small" first letter.
Neither creating another account (simple username and password) nor putting the first character of the username in uppercase (which it is not in Owncloud) helped for me. But thank you for the hint anyways mate.
@tiku01 If you're using MyOwnNotes, that would be your problem. That is for the plain-text only Notes app, not ownNotes.
