HELP WANTED: Wiki Documentation
Hi everyone,
I've just enabled the GitHub wiki for documentation and created initial subpages for OS and Platforms. We also need comprehensive use guides to help users get started.
Since I have limited knowledge about various operating systems and platform-specific things, contributions are very welcome! Feel free to add information, corrections, improvements, or create user guides to help make this resource more comprehensive.
Thanks in advance.
Hi @FlyGoat,
I’ve been working on some improvements and additional content for the wiki, and I’d love to contribute to it.
Here’s a link to my version of the wiki with suggested changes and enhancements: https://github.com/FarelRA/CSMWrap/wiki. Since GitHub doesn’t support pull requests for wikis, I’d be happy to either share my changes as a collection of diffs or collaborate directly on the wiki if you’re open to adding me as a collaborator.
Some pages (like the Compatibility page) currently include placeholders, and I’d really appreciate your review, feedback, and suggestions for improvement. Would you mind taking a look and sharing your thoughts on the proposed updates?
Additionally, I’ve made some improvements to the README.md. Should I go ahead and create a pull request for those changes?
Looking forward to your thoughts!
Thanks, Farel
I could also report in detail, how I managed to get full XP SP3 to boot to desktop using csmwrap, on pure UEFI board, means no CSM at all. But I just dont know, where and how to write this Tutorial here Dietmar
Hi @dietmarpapagei1,
I'm currently working on improving the wiki and have set up a Compatibility page with some placeholders, but I still need real user reports to help populate it. If you're willing to share the details of your setup and how you got it working, I’d be happy to add it to the wiki, or help you format it into a dedicated section like Tutorials or User Setups.
Feel free to share the details here, or let me know if you'd prefer another way to collaborate.
Thanks, Farel
@FarelRA Many thanks! I'm happy with those changes! I have enabled non-collaborator edit, fell free to edit or PR.
Hi @FlyGoat,
Thanks for enabling wiki edits! I’ll go ahead and update the pages.
Regarding the Compatibility page, should I leave it with just my (just one) report for now, or would you prefer I remove the placeholders and wait for more user submissions?
Let me know what works best.
Thanks again, Farel
@FarelRA I think compatibility page should describe platforms/OS that are not working perfectly. So maybe you can just leave entries with issues.
You can also go through issues and MSFN discussion thread, there are some existing reports.
Thanks
Hi @FlyGoat,
That makes sense. I’ve update the Compatibility page to focus on platforms/OS with issues. I’ve also go through the issues for additional reports.
I’ve added some entries to the Compatibility page based on the issues I could find (with the available info) and updated the wiki directly. Feel free to modify or add another report in the future.
Thanks, Farel
@FarelRA Thanks for your contribution! That's amazing.
