@ezrasuki no it should work with every mac that has intel graphics the amd/nvidia patches are outdated. most 2011(HD3000) models get 4k by this patch. then most of the 2012/2013(HD4000/HD5000)...
It differs from OS to OS, intel 4000 wil get some upgrade later you can copy some kext from maverics to get it to work, but this is not easy...

Yes you can there is a program that can force that.. But it might be the case that that is only possible with the internal screen. I think it's required...
You cannot disable it with an boot-arg. You need to boot from your restore partition, and switch it off over there. It now called "system integrity protection"
