Consider deprecating

This and your memcached plugins are covered by the official ones ;)

Yes you’re right, I was thinking about that. Will do soon :)

I can't find any info if native dokku supported psql plugin is Single container plugin or it creates new psql container per every app? If not i see no reason why you should deprecate your plugin. I find it lot more useful for my projects.

@darklow The official service is not as app oriented as this one. So yes you create one container per DB and then you can link it to any number of apps. This allows to run easily different versions of PG for example. How this plugin is a lot more useful than the official service for you?

@Flink I have a shared hosting server for my own projects. With a single container i can save on RAM/CPU usage, when multiple dokku apps are using same database server / container. They also share same postgresql config. If i need something very specific i can create separate container. But I like to have an option to reuse same psql server.

@Flink one thing I would note is that - by default - the official one can be linked to multiple apps, but the database remains the same. I think we might even scope the db user permissions to just that db. Would be a good feature for all the datastores to be able to have multiple users/multiple databases handled by the plugin...

@darklow thanks for the infos :)

@josegonzalez I don’t know, if we go down this path we might lose the ease of use that comes with those plugins I think.

One thing I could do is standardize my plugin to use the same interface we’re using on official plugins. But then I won’t deprecate then

I really like the idea of using a single container. Please don't deprecate unless the oficial one is as simple and as good as this one for a single container.

What's the status on this plugin? Should we be using the official plugin?

It’s not officially deprecated yet since a lot of people seems to use it but I’m not maintaining it actively. If you can use the official one instead that’s better. I began some time ago a feature that will enable single container behavior with the official plugin so at that moment, this plugin will be deprecated I think.
