1.) The tanker could be placed parallel to a Case-II/III marshal holding stack for quick refuel sips while holding. 2.) Tanker track could be placed tactically (efficient positioning) away from known surface threats while carrier was moving through those areas. 3.) Multiple tankers could be linearly placed along an offset heading that could provide a greatly extended range for outbound and inbound traffic. 4.) Tanker track itself could be offset (running a parallel course) from the carrier's heading and could allow a heavy Case-I traffic stack, with a minimal of departure distance (from the stack) to refuel and reenter.
