The Longer The World Is Loaded, The Worse Performance gets

Open IAmSneak opened this issue 4 years ago • 11 comments

Issue:

When the world is loaded with the claims, the performance begins getting worse over time. After one night AFK in a claim with nothing changing, the server runs a lot worse. It started at around 12 mspt with 2 people and by the end of the night it was running at around 86 mspt with 1. Restarting the server fixed this, but again after 15 minutes it is up to 33 mspt again. This didn't happen before this mod was added.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install the mod
  2. Claim a large area
  3. Stay in the claimed area for a long time, preferably with multiple people

Affected Versions (Latest is NOT a version):

  • Minecraft: 1.16.2
  • Fabric: 0.20.1+build 401
  • Flan: 1.16.2 1.0.4

Other Mods (If you think it might be cause of an incompability):

Lithium and phosphor

Logs: Pastebin

did the amount of claims changed during that phase? if so by how much?

ive ran a test with a superflat world and carpet only. made several claims (around 10) and tick warped it for few hours. no mspt change. (i cant test it on a larger scale cause i dont have a server or more people). if anyone knows more or see performance issues please let me know here

I can try doing more testing soon. I spawned in players with carpet to test, but it also happened with regular players. Sorry I haven't responded sooner, school just started and I was quite sick.

Couldn't reproduce this again. I am adding it back into my server and will say if this happens again.

It happens again...

are you doing something special on the server? playing normally, standing still and nothing? also can you monitor the ram usage?

Hi, I was hoping to try out this mod. I have access to 4-5 real players. Is there anything in particular I can do to help with debugging this? Maybe a Log4j debug log? I'll report back if I notice anything strange

Sorry for the late response. I was just standing still. It could be an incompatibility with overworld two, which I have on the server.

can you monitor the memory usage? and no atm there arent any logging things there. and idk where logging things would be useful. there isnt anything ticking except for some player data. most is just reacting to modifications in the world. and the ticking player data isnt really expensive. specially since IAmSneak said that he was just standing still. (so it actually shouldnt do anything). idk if it helps but using some kind of jvm profiling like visual jvm might pin point the issue

I can't seem to be able to reproduce this anymore (at least not in the current version). I have no clue what caused it before but it seems to no longer happen.

Never AFK.
