I think I can cache a lot more stuff and mark certain channels as temporary to be flushed out when the system resyncs. That way there won't be any nulls.

The Google Drive dependency is fairly old, and may have changed APIs a bit since the last update here.
I believe it was possible to read the file directly to get channels.

This may be fixed with ExoPlayer 2.
