Channels have been added (but they were not added)
Hello I made a test channel, which uses a .ts file as output, using epg-guide .gz file will make the app crash so the only things I set were:
1-Channel Number 2-Channel Name 2-URL
I can see the stream inside Cumulus TV, but when I try to get the channel in Live Channels it adds it (I see the progress bar and on the right the channel number and name) when the loading screen disappear a pop up says "channels have been added" and right after another one "no channels added" (dunno the exact string, it says this in italian, and yes the firt popup is not localized but this is). What can I do? It's very strange that it doesn't add channels.
EDIT: I also tried with the channel proposed in the cumulus app (add channel option) and they are not added, how is this even possible? This is supposed to be the main feature. I also made a factory reset, the problem is still here. @Fleker can you help me please?
EDIT2: The channels are not added but hidden. If I go in the channels customization option there are nothing for Cumulus TV, so they are not added at all.
EDIT3: In case you need to know I'm on Android 6.0.1 using a custom Android TV box (made by a local provider togheter with google) and it has a digital tuner integrated, so there is a "DvtInput" source which adds 999 Channels if this can help. Right now on this installation the app crashes almost on everything I click.
EDIT4: I just saw Live Channels was updated 4 days ago, this may be the problem, I'll try the previous version.
EDIT5: Tried to downgrade, same problems.
@Fleker if you want to look on this can you please tell me what I have to send to you to try to fix the problem? Thanks
Sending me the files you used will allow me to reproduce the problem and offer a potential fix.

@Fleker I don't really use any files, even adding the NASA channel provided by default results in no channels added. The only thing that may differ from the other Android TVs is this integrated tuner which adds 999 channels to Live Channels app. After a factory reset and installing only Live Channels and Cumulus TV I still have this problem. Do you think this integrated tuner may be the culprit?
Which TV do you have?

@Fleker It's custom made by Technicolor for a local ISP: http://www.technicolor.com/en/solutions-services/connected-home/video-devices/ott-set-top-boxes/skipper
I haven't heard of that, and don't really know what that's doing. I imagine something odd is happening with the TV app on the device where my app is not receiving the correct parameters it needs to initialize properly.
@Fleker actually the TV Channels app is another one, a system app made by the ISP, I disabled it so the Box can boot to Live Channels (downloaded from play store), I'll try to disable the dvtinput and see what happens.
Is Live Channels designated as a system app? Having two of what should be one app could lead to some unusual behaviors.

@Fleker not specifically the google's Live Channels app, but a custom app that reads only the dvtinput, you cannot add other channels, it only reads the tuner channels. This dvtinput is read by Live Channels too and it adds 999 channels to it.
Can you determine which is the system TV app?

@Fleker Package name is "timvision.launcher" and app name is "TimVisionLiveTV" as I said made by TIM (this local ISP who made also the box in collboration with technicolor and Google).
There are a few debug actions that are in the settings. Can you compare what you have stored in the app with what you have stored in the system tv database? Something must be amiss.
Hoping to get my hands on one of these Technicolor boxes in a couple of months when Foxtel (Australian Cable Provider) offers them for their Foxtel Now service. As it is based on the same as the Skipper, it should be fun to see if this is an issue from Technicolor specifically, or an issue from the ISP specific (TIM in the case of the above with @Byron657 )
@Fleker I'm able to reproduce the issue as well on the Android TV emulator using the Live Channels app. It looks like some devices do exhibit this kind of behavior. (Including the one mentionned above and some Sony Bravia TV's)
There aren't any issues when using the embed TV app from the emulator. I'm available if you want me to pull some debugging stuff.
The tv app that comes with the emulator is fine? Or the live channels app in the emulator is having a problem?

The Tv app in the emulator is fine but the Live Channels is having problems.
So far, looks like the issue happens like you said with two applications trying to do the job of one. Why can't they share channels that remains to be seen.
The tv app on a device must be a system app to be able to access system-level databases.

This is weird considering Live Channels asked for the TV listing permissions on the device after installing it.
This means in that case that all Android TV devices should have a system TV app by default.
Live Channels can ask for permission to access data, but it needs to be installed as a system app to be able to access channels and programs outside of its own app.

Hi, I am testing Android TV and installed Google's Live Channels app from Play Store. I have the same problem as @zaclimon . Live Channels asked for the TV listing permissions and is listing all channels available via digital FTA. I have attempted to get channels from CTV and it started to import one by one but there were no channels imported after the process finished.
Built in app called Steaming Channels does not have this issue
You need to use the built-in TV app to view channels. You can't install Live Channels afterward.
Live Channels is not working at all for me. It just force closes. Anyone else having the same problem? Firestick cube. Perhaps another app is interfering with it ? Clueless. Tried uninstalling reinstalling my apps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ng86DY1wrQY
