[REQ] New partition settings that combine SD and USB

Open gingerbeardman opened this issue 6 years ago • 3 comments

  • I use SD for games I am currently playing
  • I use HDD for other games I might want to dip in/out of
  • My HDD is not always connected

Currently

  • I have to change partition setting manually

Requested

  • have partition settings that combine SD and USB
    • SD/USB
    • USB/SD

Games on the leading partition would take precedence over those on the secondary partition

eg.

SD \wbfs\GoldenEye 007 \wbfs\Mario Kart

HDD \wbfs\Mario Kart \wbfs\Wii Sports \wbfs\Wii Sports Resort

Full list of games shown in WFL \wbfs\GoldenEye 007 \wbfs\Mario Kart \wbfs\Wii Sports \wbfs\Wii Sports Resort

With SD/USB Mario Kart would be played from SD With USB/SD Mario Kart would be played from USB

Hope that makes sense!

Cheers

ok Matt here is the prefer USB option you wanted. https://www.mediafire.com/file/817kwhe6o8hk2jc/wf5.3.0beta12prefer_usb_test.zip/file

you will have to manually edit wiiflow_lite.ini under [WII] and under [GAMECUBE] add prefer_usb=yes

i haven't tested. but if you have usb mounted it should auto change the partition to USB1 otherwise it will be SD. let me know if it works.

also this is beta 12 that the other guy had a categories issue. i hope it fixes his issue too.

Thanks, that works.

  • I had to disable "Mount only SD slot" setting.

Is it possible, as above, for both devices to me mounted and combined in the list? I understand that is a much bigger ask than setting things to USB if connected.

Strange things on this build

  • cache reloads "100%" each boot (usually it just loads to CoverFlow)

Some thoughts. This is good and allows my USB take priority over SD when it is connected.

The ideal scenario in the OP is for USB and SD to be shown as one big combined list.

The reason is that I have some games exclusively on SD and some exclusively on USB.
