How should "wapanel" be pronounced?

My problem mainly concerns the "wa" part. It's pretty self-explanatory that "panel" will be read as "panel".

But how should the "wa" part be said?

Should it sound like "wha", because it just sounds the way it looks? Should it maybe be "whe", because it's from "wayland"? Sould it be read as "W A" maybe?

I'm confused.
