On reflection the small risk of doing this exceeds the presumed benefit. Maybe if the machine was pooled from pool it could be considered, but not while it runs primary.

Publishing iD as a npm package makes sense to me. It will improve how the openstreetmap-website code is updated.

FYI: gdal and proj now have epoch support. I've used epoch to adjusted aerial imagery for OpenStreetMap in the past. 3cm accuracy is realistically possible today on a £150 "GPS".
