Could this code be updated to native Promises, typescript, etc. Is this project stale?

I think it is, you might want to check our fork: https://github.com/kaliberjs/firebase-queue/

It's not typescript, but it is Promises. It might not be what you need though because I trimmed the library quite a bit and removed a lot of functionality.
