Suggestion: Flatpak/Flathub support.
It would be nice if Moonscraper could get official Flatpak support and have it published to Flathub.
Some benefits of this would include:
- Moonscraper would be able to update alongside the rest of the user's Flatpak software.
- It could improve Moonscraper's compatibility with the Steam Deck and other immutable Linux distros. It could also solve any potential dependency issues on regular distros.
- It would provide better integration as an installed program, rather than a portable program (it would appear in the Applications menu without the user having to DIY any .desktop files).
- It could attract more users and make Moonscraper more easily accessible since Flathub is a very popular platform for Linux software and is directly integrated into KDE Discover, GNOME Software, and many other repository frontends.
I would be willing to help test and provide feedback if necessary. But if this can be considered, it would be a great quality of life improvement for Linux users.
Here's the submission guide for Flathub and other useful information: https://docs.flathub.org/docs/for-app-authors/submission/ https://docs.flatpak.org/en/latest/first-build.html
Alternatively, if Flatpak is too burdensome to set up or maintain, then AppImage would be a simpler alternative which would share the benefits of point 1 (Partially, AppImages can be built to check for/install updates upon its launch.), 2, and 3 (Partially, only with the use of a program like AppImageLauncher or Gear Lever).
