What does the "Resolution parameter" mean?

Many of the endpoints support a resolution parameter, yet there is no documentation explaining what it means. What does it mean?

The Frequency as far as I can tell means the following: 1: one Minute 5: 5 minutes 15: every 15 minutes 30: every 30 minutes 60: every hour D: every day M: every month
