How to modify without changing the entire page?

Sorry to file as an issue, couldn't figure out how to do this or how to contact you otherwise.

What I'm trying to achieve is very similar to this pattern you have, however, I wanted a fixed navbar at the bottom and so what I'm trying to do is create a new div with data-role=content with id=primary-view and have backbone substitute the content inside of that div rather than replacing the entire page. What I can't figure out is your router seems to attach itself to multiple divs with data-url and in my situation those don't exist.

Any idea how I would go about modifying what you've done to achieve this?
