Not remembering specified device

Open vertigo220 opened this issue 5 years ago • 5 comments

With at least two programs (MakeMKV and TSMuxer), if I set them to use one device (HDMI monitor (M)) then close them and switch to another device (SPDIF speakers (S)), their sound will play through S instead of M. So it's not remembering the device assignment.

If you switch the output audio device via Windows -- and not EarTrumpet -- do you see different behavior?

I actually had been; since I started using EarTrumpet, I've continued using Windows' built-in sound control as well, including for switching audio devices. Probably a combination of not realizing I could right-click EarTrumpet to change the default device and access the "legacy" stuff and just not wanting to completely switch over until I'd tested it out thoroughly. Anyways, it doesn't seem to matter which one I use, as I just tested it by using EarTrumpet to switch back and forth and it still did it. I also double-checked to make sure tsMuxer was still assigned to M.

So, is that a yes/no? 😀 If it happens outside of EarTrumpet, it's a Windows issue.

It's the same whether I change it with Windows or EarTrumpet, but part of the purpose of EarTrumpet is to allow apps to be directed to specific devices, so if it can't remember that, it's not really accomplishing that goal. Shouldn't it be saving the configuration, so if an app is moved to a particular device, every time that app appears, EarTrumpet will move it to that device if it's not already there?

Agree, and we have that in an upcoming add-on. 👍
