I think the project is abandonned

It's not abandoned intentionally, we really just need one or two more maintainers that we can share responsibility with.

What is involved in vue3 support? I know that Vue.Set is gone, what is the solution otherwise?

I believe there is a compatibility library available. There are caveats of course, but with this you should be able to swap to Vue 3 while mostly having your Vue 2 code still run.

Perhaps this is an option for transitioning?
