feature request: when stream stops, check for channel change

Open rigid opened this issue 9 years ago • 1 comments

I'm using VDR Manager ( http://projects.vdr-developer.org/projects/vdr-manager/wiki ) to read EPG, stream recordings etc. But any other VDR client is also affected (I guess).

When I watch TV using Kodi, it would be awesome if I could switch channels using another VDR client. At this time, the stream just stops.

Maybe vdr-plugin-vnsiserver could try to detect the active channel change and continue playback? I think it would be nice if different clients could co-exist nicely, considering the server-client architecture of VDR.

VDR has no client-server architecture. It has a plugin architecture. A plugin requests a dvb device for streaming with a priority. Depending on the priority other plugins can get access to the device and interrupt playback of active streaming. When a plugin gets disconnected from a device it does not get info about the reason. Even if it did and managed it to reconnect to an active channel, there wouldn't be any means to notify Kodi about a channels switch.
