[RFE] "Use Bittorrent Protocol" (with a warning of course)

I believe in some cases/scenarios bittorrent can be a faster/more reliable choice which would also serve to the people who manually downloads via bittorrent.

The issue is mobile connected setups (it will -of course- upload at least while downloading). Microsoft does P2P acceleration in Windows Update (opt-in) without any issues for years now (introduced in Windows 10).

So I suggest this:

  1. Fetch/parse data from https://torrent.fedoraproject.org
  2. Check if user is on metered connection (all 3 platforms now have this function)
  3. Display a warning and make sure he/she understands that it will upload some data/share while downloading.

This is targeted to inexperienced/ordinary users so usual "share until 1.0 ratio" etc type of things doesn't need to apply.

A person on Reddit has raised some valid sounding concerns regarding this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fedora/comments/ubjia2/comment/i655d2p/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 _Don't really see the need or advantage. If you want to use BitTorrent for some reason, you can download it using your favourite client and just "burn" the downloaded iso anyway.

Like if they were to add this feature, they'd need to add legal text that this app might send sensitive data like the ip address to other users and/or contain other scary warnings. Also having multiple options confuses some users.

So I see a lot of potentially negative things and very few advantages. And "Microsoft does it" isn't a good justification, either._
