8bit and 2bit pngs convert to 24 bit bmps. This is not helpful!

I would expect a 2 bit png to convert to a 2 bit bmp, but it converts to 24 bit, at 80 times the size. Similar for 8 bit. Please...

Changing color

When converting from DDS to DDS (just to scale the image) it changes the colors in the image. I am wondering if it is mixing up the RGB values?
