Window resize not being remembered - issue with ultrawide desktop?

If you resize a window using "[" or "]" and then open and close a new window, the windows you resized will ignore how you put them and revert back to being as big as possible. (see vid) I'd love for them to instead revert back to how i had them after I've closed any extra windows I opened.
