Doesn't work with Safari Version 10.0 (10602.1.50.0.10)

I want GMail to be my default email client.

I've installed mailto:, selected Google, and restated Safari.

When I click the mailto: icon, Apple Mail comes up.

I tried entering a custom URL for Gmail compose: https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox?compose=new and restated Safari.

Still, when I click the mailto: icon, Apple Mail comes up.

Suggestions?

The extension was working for me, but now mailto opens Apple Mail instead. I think this changed when I installed Safari 10.0

I'm on Safari Version 10.0.1 (12602.2.14.0.7)

Fix?
