Separate scene window
What can't you do?
After the latest play mode changes merged, it completely got rid of the scene window. The scene window was extremely useful to have side by side in order to inspect elements of your game while also giving live input into the game.
How would you like it to work?
- There should be an optional "scene" window which you can enable
- This window can be docked ontop of the game window like before, or side by side with the game window
- Even if you don't eject, if the scene window is open, clicking on an object in the inspector should jump to that object in the scene window
- Basically, it should behave how it did before these changes
What have you tried?
- Complaining on discord
Additional context
FP devs are aware and will be working on it, just wanted to make a ticket to track it. Feel free to read this discord message and back for why we would like it https://discord.com/channels/833983068468936704/833983416390385685/1440242416140554352
Some issues are subjective enough that you can see it being done this or that way and it not being a problem. People may bitch and moan then realize it's not that big a deal.
This isn't that. It's a fundamental feature that a very significant portion including myself want to and very much benefit from having.
It doesn't have to be the default/primary way, but having the scene window separate and usable alongside the game window is genuinely important.
This is really bad for building ui, the aspect ratio is all wrong and the dropdown to change it does nothing, its always on free size making it so if you place a ui element in the bottom of the screen it will be cut off, i have been using the join via new instance button just to see what my ui should actually look like, & using the full screen button messes up aspect ratio and input
