[Material Editor/ModelDoc] Lighting Preview cubemaps do not match the skybox HDRI itself

Open rzkid opened this issue 1 year ago • 0 comments

Describe the bug

If you open material editor or modeldoc and switch the lighting preset (HDRI) to any of the "Basic [...]", the cubemap applied to the preview model will not match the actual visible skybox itself, sometimes even leading to comically bad results.

To Reproduce

  1. Open ModelDoc OR Material Editor (both have the same lighting preview functionality)
  2. Use a cube, or a plane model (easier to see)
  3. Switch to "cubemap reflections" vis tool mode
  4. Toggle between the "Basic [...]" skyboxes
  5. Observe from multiple angles and see how the things are not the same

Expected behavior

It should be the cubemaps generated from the new non-valve HDRI's and not whatever this is

Additional context

It's especially visible on the evening one, since the new sky is very blue and the cubemap has a very noticable pink-orange sunset.
