VBSP IVP crash

Open fixinit75 opened this issue 6 months ago • 5 comments

Details

The tools version is May 7 2025, happens on both the 32 and 64 bit versions. Using older tools (June 1 2022, also tried March 10 2020) does not show any error and does the successful compilation of the map. Looks like a regression for me as I've tried cordon tool to find the exact place on my map which causes this error, but it just went to absolute random of successful compiles and crashes after even saving the map without changing cordons or with the slight changes. And no error messages with -v, so I can't even guess what's wrong. And this thing happens on all my maps, even relatively small ones.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Download this zip maps.zip

  2. Try compiling it

I'm not really sure that you'll be able to compile it though, as it uses models from metrostroi. But you can contact me, maybe I will be helpful.

Compiles successfully on my end

Also it being an IVP crash - nothing I can do about it. I really doubt it is somehow a regression. Our version of vphysics right now is the exact same version using before 2014.

But why does it have no issues on older tools? Also, I see that it compiles successfully without the models, so can there be a model compatibility issue? I can confirm the successful compilation without them on my end. Though most of the models are like from 2014 and have never changed since then

I can actually upload the models, so that you can try to compile with them

vbsp.zip

vbsp that works (from 2020 tools as I'm unable to take the 2022 version from the remote pc)
