This fix only works with native version of the game, doesn't work with Proton. As far as I know, it's possible for GMod developers to fix this issue for everyone by updating to the latest Chromium. Version of Chromium currently in use by GMod is very old. A new version of Chromium will not only fix the game for Linux users, but also will bring performance improvements (with GModCEFCodecFix there's no more stutter when clicking items in main menu, much faster loading web UIs, for example) and vulnerability fixes.
