menu not showing up on x86-64 - Chromium + 64-bit binaries branch

Open Aws0mee opened this issue 4 years ago • 5 comments

Details

When I enable x86-64 - Chromium + 64-bit binaries branch and launch the game, I am given 3 options: Play Garry's Mod, Launch Garry's Mod(32-bit) and Launch Garry's Mod (64-bit). If I select the first option, Play Garry's Mod sometimes my menu will not show up.

Steps to reproduce

Start the game with the x86-64 - Chromium + 64-bit binaries. Click Play Garry's Mod. Seemingly randomly the game will look like this, only the background no menu at all. If you join a server by clicking a link and using the Steam Client Bootstrapper, you will be able to pull up console, but not the menu at all(here).

Sounds partially like #4677, so this might be the same, although that was on Linux.

I'm on Windows, but it does appear to be a similar issue.

Has anyone found a fix/solution for this issue?

I'm late to the party but I found a fix that worked for me,

Right Click your Main Garrysmod Folder so the one you see in Steamapps/common/GarrysMod then hit Properties> Security> at the bottom right click advanced>then check Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object> click apply and then try to start gmod. This is what worked for me. Also try to do this on a fresh install because that's what I did
