x86_64 branch disallows steam to make screenshots under Linux (Kubuntu)
When you hit screenshot hotkey (by default, F12) nothing happens. In other games under Linux steam is able to take screenshots. (Kubuntu 19.04)
I'd imagine this is because the Steam Overlay is disabled on that branch.
@roboderpy , you tried use jpeg
in console, use camera swep?
I'm saying not about built in screenshotting of source engine, but steam one
@robotboy655 Why Steam Overlay disabled on that branch?
I'd also like to know why it's disabled? Spent a while trying to fix this just to find out it's disabled.
Seems like any overlays still don't work, tested with mangohud and steam overlay.
Still doesn't work on macOS Catalina 10.15.5
Looks like the launcher script hl2.sh
unsets LD_PRELOAD. Commenting unset LD_PRELOAD
out makes mangohud work. But there seem to be issues with steam overlay.
same on Manjaro 21.07
why is this disabled? it makes it quite annoying whenever I am joining a friend's server, having to back out and go into steam friends.
also want to know why it's disabled - it's annoying having to tab to steam and find the menu i want when in gmod it's one button.

Steam Overlay crashes the game if injected into Garry's Mod on Linux (native x86_64 branch)

why's that? (also hi yuki lollll)
...I have no idea actually could be due to cef? or an incompatibility with one of the countless other things.
This is still a problem. Any plans on fixing the crashes so it can be enabled on this branch?

What this guy said.
This is still an issue. Tested on Arch Linux. Any news or progress on this? It's a pain trying to invite people without using Big Picture mode.

As a temporary workaround, you could try using Valve's gamescope: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/gamescope
In my case, it enables the Steam overlay without issue, though brings in some gamescope-specific problems (namely cursor & clipboard issues)
So... It's still dead... The problem "is alive"
