[Request] Third party GBA link cable support
Not sure how realistic this is, but I have a third-party GBA/GCN link cable (I believe it’s this MadCatz one if you’re curious, possibly more silvery than that) and as of right now it doesn’t seem to work with Nintendont. It seems like the accepted fix for this at this point is just to buy an official adapter, but I’m wondering if it would be possible to add support for unofficial ones.
Thanks for reading.
Not particularly helpful in your situation, but my YOBO link cable works. Picked it up new for like $10 at a local game shop. You have to enable native controller support in Nintendont settings to use one, if you didn't already know that :)
Sorry for 2-year old issue ping.
Thank you for the info @AveyCole , I have an unbranded cable and I missed that option when I first looked at the settings menu, kinda weird how its hidden way down the bottom, would be nice if it was up with the rest of the options.
Sorry for 4-year old issue ping, but just in case anyone was wondering, the MadCatz cable that OP has linked works on Nintendont. I was able to use the same cable with the Pokémon Colosseum bonus disc to get the Wishmaker Jirachi sent to my Pokémon Sapphire. Turning on native controller support is essential for making any of the Gamecube controller hardware work (as I discovered to my surprise when my Wavebird didn't even work automatically. Quite surprising to me that the setting is off by default)
(As an aside, the only issue I ran into while making this all work was related to video output, and that had nothing to do with the MadCatz GCN-GBA cable. I switched from using the OEM composite AV cable to a third-party component AV cable and somehow that worked)
