Black Screen Sound Only after Loading game

Open AmberV25 opened this issue 1 year ago • 16 comments

so i tried to play Zelda Wind Waker (USA) with nintendont, but weirdly it goes to black screen (NO SIGNAL) but still has the sound. i've tried to change the Force Video to NTSC,PAL 50, PAL 60 and all with no avails.

Nintendont and the ISO is in USB drive Fat 32 format and yes i'ce vheck the SHA1 theyre the same with the one in redump org.

and as of the TV its LG Plasma from Asia i think?

also the wiimote just blinking when any button is pressed idk if its supposed to do that. If anyone can find a solution to my problem, then it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Here's the nintendont setting for reference

so first everything should be auto or off turn force widescreen off, video to auto, drive acess led off, patch pal 50 off. Turn Skip IPl to ON to be sure. also are you using a real memory card? since you have memory card emulation turned off i wonder.

If after those changes the game is still only sound then there is too things your tv cant take ntsc signal or your iso is not as correct as you say and the md5 doesnt match redump.org.

Here I tried to play CNK (JP) and it still go no signal So I dont think it's problem with the rom or NTSC, PAL thingy IMG_20241221_142412

And yes there's a sound IMG_20241221_142428 IMG_20241221_143310

could be your tv is pal only? jap and usa games use ntsc signals both of them also you tried with memory card emulation turned on?

carnage702 avatar Dec 22 '24 10:12 carnage702

everyone that had no signal either tv doesnt support the mode or resolution, hmm maybe its an issue with your usb or something? tryed putting a game on the sd card and try from there too? just rulling out options, could be an incompatible usb with nintendont thing.

Just tried different tv and result is still same. Will try sd card later

Could be just a bad iso try finding an iso 1.35gb with md5 matching the good dump of redump.org

Welp tried an sdcard and it still black screen Here's the ISO md5 and it matches

The Wii is RVL 001 if that's matter

try getting the pal version of wind waker to see if it works just guessing.

Do other games work fine? its just wind waker issue?

I already tried Timesplitter (PAL) and it also black screened. Is it possible that the Cios is faulty?

nintendont doesnt use cios but maybe you have a bad cios isntalled over something that prevets nintendont from working correctly, do you have any cios mods that affect stuff on the wii? could be nintendont boot.dol that is corrupt maybe try redownloading it too? do you have anything connected to the wii memory card ports of the gamecube?

wierd stuff like homebrew channel with customs mods instead of the default one could also bring problems.

the only IOS nintendont uses is iso58 and it needs to be the official iso58 for nintendont to work, if you installed something over it it could be the problem too.

carnage702 avatar Jan 22 '25 07:01 carnage702

Here's syscheck of ios58

everything seems fine imo does your homebrew channel have some mod installed like a theme or something instead of being default homebrew channel?

carnage702 avatar Jan 22 '25 17:01 carnage702

also wiimote alone is not a valid controller for nintendont you need to use either a gc controller trough the gc ports, a supported usb hid controller or wiimote +classic controller, wiimote+nunchuck.

Homebrew isn't modified afaik. The Wii was modded with Letterbomb years ago. Can i use modmii to mod it again? Just to make sure
