game doesn't launch via the play tab but does via the irc

PrinsRR reported that he cannot join lobbies through the play tab in the official FAF client it appears that the game doesn't even start writing a log so he could only provide me with a client log

clearing the cache/game files didn't solve his issue unfortunately

The logs don't show anything suspicious, is the issue still there?
