CMYK JPEG support

Does lwip support CMYK JPEG files? I am dealing with the print sector, and see a lot of CMYK assets in my transcoding queues.

Not currently. I'll consider it as a feature request.

:+1: +1 to this feature request. This would be very useful. I'm working with some images from a Sony SDC-F828 which seems to saves jpg files in CMYK.

Thanks so much for considering this feature!

As I understand it, the JPEG spec doesn't actually support CMYK JPEG. That's hasn't stopped Adobe from creating a little-known application called Photoshop from generating more than a few of these CMYK JPEGs, which are the bane of every sane person who needs to use them for Web or on-screen display, as the conversion adds tons of noise (through dithering, permanently bloating file size, even if the conversion back to RGB is made) & drastically reduces color gamut and dynamic range, therefore contrast.

Although less-than-ideal, it's still vital to do this conversion back to RGB, as pretty much the first order of business, in order to apply useful optimization methods for Web delivery, or simply for scaling for motion graphics, animation, compositing/retouching, etc.

Regardless of file format (JPEG, TIFF, etc), I would still vote +1 for BI-directional conversion between RGB and CMYK formats.
