Well home manager added recently lua and bash config https://github.com/nix-community/home-manager/pull/7115.
Honestly I will look into the home manager implementation and nix-darwin so both are sorted configuration wise.
There was recently a new release 1.3.8 did you try that version?
I will do testing in my configuration to make sure it works.

So yeah full setup is: * NixOS: Hyprland & Eww * macOS: JankyBorders, Sketchybar and aerospace
