Is it okay to rebase @simonhyll to fix this merge confict?

I am waiting for this: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/335751 to be on all unstable channels before I make docs about building for nix/nixos

I am rethinking of this pr I am going to do a nix overhaul.

I think it's ready it, but the android and ios parts haven't been tested.

Also would it be okay to squash the commits in this pr?

I will soon deprecate 2.0 nim in nixpkgs I will be updating to 2.2.6, if this isn't fixed by then I will mark it broken.

I could look at making changes to this pr as there is two version of crates both cmp and non cmp, to help out if needed.
